Hootch tragedy

Page 15 of a popular daily speaks of sunlight deprived skilled labor who are having vitamin deficiencies due to thr limited/non exposure to Sun. Page 1 of the same daily speaks of a tragedy, the loss of many unskilled laborers life due to their consumption of hootch…

The reason I thought it necessary to write here is many read and forget these pieces of information as they presume that these people are poor and uneducated- their life is a misery wouldn’t harm the ecosystem if we loose them. However, what we as a society fail to realise is that the ecosystem wouldnt be as balanced without the presence of these very same labourers..

We may feel proud of being part of many a growth story, but the minute we ignore the actual realities of the majority- who depend on such poisons for their everyday peace... growth will remain an illusion...

In one of the staff room conversations of a popular educatioonal institute, a teacher said-' its nature ensuring the natural selection by ensuring the survival of the best and the fittest'...

Arent terms such as fittest and best relative and contextual? y should one live in pseudo status quos when one is always craving and desirous of being pegged at a higher level, and would prefer to be in the presence of a much superior person.

y cant one pause and try to identify as to what may drive these laborers to consume such poison knowingly or unknowingly?

Do they need to drink something after a hard days effort as they are unable to sleep? Or are they ignorant of the effects of such poisons and the consequences of such consumption?

Going by the numbers, am certain that half of them would've not drank the poison if they knew that it would lead to their death.

Where is the Government's role in all of it? Where are the regulatory bodies? Why is there a hype on partying restrictions in a city or dancing rules and not enough focus on the common man's lack of awareness? y arent we doing enough for all our fellowwmen- to provide an opportunity to take care of themselves?...

if we did respect life for what it is wouldnt we pause and think of what we could do to ensure that entire sections of a certain class doesnt get wiped out?

As long as contradictions exist [such that I mentioned in the initial bit of this write up, one mans lack of sunlight and another mans loss of life, both being equal in the eyes of a reader] there would be multiple solutions...but will we wait for someone to take up the cudgel?
