Her painting

She is curious, observant and mischievous,

Her energy and smile can drive one mad,

She will never take no for an answer,

And her strength never seizes to amaze us ordinary souls…

I am talking here of a friend who is differentially abled. Working with her has been a blessing because it helps me realize my limitations and weaknesses - She held steadfact to a paintbrush even as her hand shook and made the finer details come alive :) …She is mute and cannot speak nor hear -these two constraints may prevent her from easily connecting with people.

However, she can talk- talk more powerfully than most of us through her paintings and she knows exactly what she wants to convey…no inhibitions, no diplomacy, no confusions, she will say it as is and the pure flow of thought and expression makes me sing praises to the Lord …

I thank him for people like her -confident and sure footed and devoid of the dark cloudy thoughts many of us feel…

I am thankful that she’s patient with me when I communicate through my eyes and expressions or when I am limited to communicate through paper,

I am thankful that she doesn’t complain about my handwriting, and seems to understand everything I write,

I am thankful for her optimism as she feels that her smile and goodwill will be felt through the colors in her painting ( her belief in personal touch inspires me)

I am thankful for all that she symbolizes – purity, joy and hope - all things we all speak of but struggle for, and cant hold onto even when we are embraced by them

I wanted to blog this awhile ago - but felt it maybe sensitive... again my manipulative mind worrying about consequences and other peoples interpretations

in being with people like her God allows me some opportunities to raise above myself…and am thankful….
